4. EFGA Turkey Shoot

Distances range from 25m to 100m, and yes, there will be prizes, as well as a silent auction table! 5. Turkey Trot

Kick off your fall fitness routine with the Town of Edson’s annual Turkey Trot! From October 5 to 14, join in on the fun with this 5km walk/run/bike challenge along a turkey-shaped route in Edson. Snap a pic with Butterball the Turkey for a chance to win a prize pack that’ll make you thankful you exercised—at least a little.

6. Matthews United Church Heritage Open House

For a taste of local history, head to the open house at Matthews United Church on October 6, hosted by Yellowhead County and the Peers Historical Society. This event honors the dedicated volunteers who played a vital role in restoring this cherished landmark.


Originally built in 1927, the church has served as a central gathering place for the Peers community and earned its Municipal Historic Resource Status in 2017. After years of restoration by the Peers Historical Society, it’s now ready to be enjoyed by all.

8. Scott Woods Band

Join the Red Brick Arts Centre on October 6 for a toe-tapping night of live music at the Edson Legion. The event features “Yee Haw,” a vibrant, family-friendly show brimming with Old Time Fiddle tunes, country classics, sweet harmonies, electrifying step-dancing and much more!


Scott Woods, a Canadian Open and Grand Masters Fiddle Champion, will lead his talented band in a performance designed to uplift spirits and fill hearts with joy. Audiences can expect to be amazed by Scott's extraordinary trick-fiddling, including playing behind his back, walking on a barrel, and showcasing his famous front-running somersault.


Joining Scott are his sister, Kendra Woods Norris, an accomplished fiddler, and 20-year-old Leo “Spaghetti Legs” Stock, the Canadian Open Step Dancing Champion. Together, they’ll juggle multiple instruments—fiddle, accordion, piano, and drums—while adding some playful costumes and characters to the mix.


On guitar, the incredible Steve Piticco, known as "the Telecaster Master," will dazzle the crowd with his skillful playing. Kurk Bernard will round out the band on bass guitar, sharing his love for country favorites.

9. Mural Unveiling Open House

Join Yellowhead County on October 17 at the Wildwood Hall for the Mural Unveiling Open House, where over 200 local artists have transformed community spirit into a stunning collection of murals.


Over the summer, more than 200 local artists came together to create murals that capture the spirit of Yellowhead County’s unique hamlets. This is your one chance to see them all in one spot—over 230 square meters of community love, artfully assembled for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy a free BBQ and a chance to name the mural.

10. Edson Public Library Grand Reopening

These updates breathe new life into the 40-year-old building, enhancing its welcoming atmosphere and making it more accessible and inclusive for everyone.


While visiting, don’t miss the striking artwork adorning the north wall, created by Indigenous artists Mackenzie Brown, Matricia Bauer, and Ryley Williams.
